Rankera.ai publishes brands across the platforms AI answers read from. For Autoblogging.ai it ran one channel at scale: a YouTube library of 933 videos. We measured what happened in Google's AI Overviews on searches that never contain our name.
Share of Google AI Overviews that mention Autoblogging.ai across 46 non-branded buyer searches, such as "ZimmWriter alternatives" and "cheapest AI blog writer". July baseline vs a live check on 8 October. Searches containing our name were removed so the result reflects real wins, not our own brand traffic.
The same 46 searches, checked every day since 20 July by Autoblogging.ai's AI Visibility tracker. Every one names a competitor or a category, never us.
Weekly share of AI Overviews that mentioned Autoblogging.ai on the 46 non-branded searches. For two months the line hovered between 48% and 60%. It moved once the videos were live.
The first videos went live on 19 September. From 25 September to 6 October Google stopped showing AI Overviews for almost all of these searches (our tracker saw about 10% across every customer's tracked searches), so that stretch has no reading. When the AI answers returned, our share had jumped.
Rankera.ai is a multi-platform publishing service for AI visibility. AI answers recommend the brands they have read and watched about, so Rankera publishes a brand where those answers look: niche publications, Medium, YouTube, Instagram Reels and GitHub Gists, planned and tracked in one dashboard.
For this case study only the YouTube channel was used, alongside pages on our own site. That isolates what video alone does for AI visibility.
541 full-length videos and 392 Shorts on the Autoblogging channel, 31.5 hours in total, published from 19 September.
Each comparison video starts from a researched article: tool alternatives, best-of lists and side-by-side comparisons, with real prices and features.
Keyword pages on autoblogging.ai, each paired with its own video, so the answer exists both as a page and as a video.
Every video and page went to Google and Bing indexing the day it went live, so AI answers could find it within days.
The cited videos are not hits. Most have under 50 views; one cited on "alternatives to Emplibot" has a single view. The whole library has 7,191 views. The AI picks the video that answers the question, not the one with the most views.
Each comparison video names several tools, such as "Autoblogging.ai vs Agility Writer vs SEOWriting.ai". So a video made for HyperWrite alternatives is also cited on "ZimmWriter alternatives". 36 videos covered 24 different searches.
Videos titled the way buyers search ("Best WordRocket AI Alternatives in 2026") get cited on that search. Our own page is often cited next to the video, so the brand appears twice in the same answer.
Shorts are cited as sources as well as the full-length videos. A Short costs a fraction of the effort and doubles the number of chances to be picked.

On 8 October we ran a Google search with AI Overviews for each of the 462 non-branded keywords our videos were made for. Google showed an AI Overview on 428 of them. Here is how often Autoblogging.ai appeared in that answer, by type of search.
| Type of search | Keywords | AI Overviews | We are mentioned | Our site cited | Our video cited |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alternatives ("Rytr alternatives for blog posts") | 76 | 69 | 46 (67%) | 30 | 4 |
| Best-of lists ("top AI autoblogging tools for WordPress publishing") | 31 | 28 | 28 (100%) | 17 | 5 |
| Tool and feature guides ("best programmatic SEO tools") | 52 | 47 | 14 (30%) | 8 | 1 |
| How-to tutorials ("how to write a recipe blog post with AI") | 303 | 284 | 7 (2%) | 2 | 6 |
Best-of list keywords contain the phrase "autoblogging tools", which is a category name as well as part of ours, so treat that 100% with care. With them set aside, we are mentioned in 41 of 64 AI Overviews (64%) for alternatives keywords that never use the word.
When someone asks for alternatives to a named tool, Google's AI wants a comparison, and a comparison video that names the tools is exactly that. This is where the jump came from.
Our videos are cited most on short, real searches like "Agility Writer alternatives". Long planned titles such as "Top 7 Alternatives of SEOWriting.ai for Built-In AI Image Generator" are rarely searched, and our video was cited on only 4 of 69 of those.
Google cited a YouTube video in 71% of the AI Overviews for our tutorial keywords, but chose ours only 6 times out of 284. The demand for video is there; these searches are crowded with long-established channels. That is the next target.
On the 13 searches where Google cited both our video and our page, it mentioned us in all 13. On the 15 where it cited neither, it mentioned us in only 4.
